Building a Community to Reach a Community

Giving

Financial giving is an expected part of following Jesus and an important part of church involvement. To read key scriptures and explore Biblical teaching on financial giving please click here.

There are two ways to give at Zion (all contributions are tax-deductible, and a yearly receipt will be provided):

Put money in the offering plate: When the offering plate is passed you may give a cheque or cash. If you give by cash and would like your gift to be included in your year-end tax receipt, please use one of the giving envelopes provided in the seats and be sure to include your name and address.

Give online: This method allows you to give a one time gift via Telpay, a secure online service with whom you can set up an account. All donations will be included in your yearly tax receipt. We have provided some instructions on how to set up a Telpay account.

At Zion we have two primary offerings that we take:

General Fund

Each week we pass offering plates around in our worship gatherings to collect money for our General Fund. As members, we approve our budget each year, with the prayer that 100% of this money goes directly to the work of God’s Kingdom locally and globally. We budget more than a third of this fund to support Christian work beyond the ministries of our church supporting many missionaries both locally and internationally, a number of organizations that are involved in the spread of the gospel, as well as other practical, helpful ministries. The remaining funds support the various ministries and efforts of Zion Baptist Community Church. Copies of the current budget are available from the church office upon request.

Benevolent Fund

Each time we share in communion (typically the first Sunday of each month), we take a second offering called our Benevolent Fund. This money is used by our Ministry Council & Ministry Coordinators to help those with urgent, practical needs in our church body and beyond.

Capital Campaign

If you would like to give to the Capital Campaign, please use the Capital Campaign envelopes that have been provided, note this on your standard giving envelope, or designate your offering as "Capital Campaign" in TelPay.

If you have any questions of the specifics of these methods or other giving questions, please contact our church Treasurer, Jeremy Fuellbrandt or the church office.
